How to export Temprecord data to a Spreadsheet

How to edit Temprecord data files for use in Seafood Spoilage predictor software (SSP).

These instructions apply to Temperature data files only.
Humidity data from Temprecord RH loggers is not compatible with this process. Do not use humidity data with SSP.

With a data file open in Temprecord for Windows software right click the mouse and select Summary from the menu.
From the logger information summary write down the serial number, The start date and time for the data and also how many samples per hour were taken by the logger.

Go to the Options / Export menu and select the following settings from the Options form.

Field Delimiter - select Tab
Date Format - Select No Date
Quoted Text - Not selected leave the checkbox empty
Sample Range - Select which setting suits your needs I chose Start to End Samples
ASCII File Type - Change the default PRN setting to TXT, and set Columns to 1 and Averaging to 1
Export - Place a checkmark in the Values check box and make sure all other check boxes in the Export section are empty
Parameters Exported - Select Temperature
Click on OK to save the settings

Open the File menu and click on Export. A dialog box will appear asking you where to store the ASCII TXT file you have created from your Temprecord data.

Select the folder you want to store the ASCII file to. You can either accept the file name generated by Temprecord for Windows or type in your own at this point then click on the OK button to save the file.

Open Excel then click on File / Open. From the open dialog select the folder your ASCII file is stored in and then from the File as type drop down list at the bottom of the dialog choose Text files.

From the list of files select your ASCII file and click on the Open button.

The Text Import Wizard will now appear on screen click on Next. Make sure the Tab checkbox is checked and click on Next. Make sure the General radio button is selected then click on Finish.

All your temperature data will now be in column A starting from cell A1. The first thing to do is select and cut all of your data and paste it into the 6th row or cell A6 of the spreadsheet.

From row 1 to row 5 enter the following text. The information you need from the logger can be found on the Summary page from Temprecord for Windows when your data file is the active file.

In row 1 type - ASCII
In row 2 type - The serial number of the logger.
In row 3 type - The start date for the data i.e 24/05/2003 use the / forward slash as the day / month / year separators.
In row 4 type- The start time for the data i.e 10:15:45 use the : colon as the hour : minute : seconds separators.
In row 5 type- The number of seconds between samples. This information is available from Temprecord for Windows on the summary page it is listed as Sample Period.
If the samples are in minutes convert the minutes to seconds by dividing the number of minutes by 60 this will give you the number of seconds between samples.

From row 6 and below is where your temperature data is placed in a single column.

Click on File / Save As. Then from the Save as type box check that the file extension TEXT (Tab delimited)(*.txt) is selected.

Select the folder named Program Files\Dfu\Seafood Spoilage Predictor and then click on Save.

The file is now ready to be opened in SSP software.
