---------------------------------------------------------------------
Changes to 6.3, release 24, 24th June 2019
- IMPROVED: When comments are displayed in a hint window, the number
of detail lines is limited to 20 and an indication of how many
additional lines have been suppressed. Prior to this limiting,
the comment hint window could occupy the whole screen.
- IMPROVED: When the cursor is placed over a comment in the "Edit
comments" dialog, the same hint is displayed as when the mouse
cursor is placed over a comment on the graph tab.
- IMPROVED: Comments in the printed summary have been made more
readable. Optionally, printed comments can include the user name
and datetime of the comments creation and last edit.
- IMPROVED: Emails can be sent without needing to specify a mail
server name or authentication details. Emails will be sent using
Temprecord's internal mail server.
- IMPROVED: The Add/Edit Comment dialog is now resizeable. The size
is remembered between open dialog sessions and between application
sessions. The position is remembered within a session, but the
form is always positioned at the screen centre on the first
invocation.
- IMPROVED: Pressing the ENTER key when the cursor is in the comment
details memo no longer causes the dialog to close, but instead
inserts a hard carriage return into the memo. Pressing Enter or TAB
in the Comment Name or Title fields causes the focus to move to the
next field down.
- ADDED: There is now a command-line option to start the application
with a specific INI file:
Syntax: /SETTINGS
Example: trw /settings "My Settings.ini"
Function: Directs TRW to read the settings from the supplied filename.
If no path is supplied in the file specifier the current folder is used.
If no extension is supplied in the file specifier then ".INI" is assumed.
If the file doesn't exist, a new one is created.
When TRW exits, the settings are written back to the same file. If you
want to start TRW next time with those settings, the name of the settings
file needs to be specified again. For this reason, it is most convenient
to use a batch file or a custom shortcut to start TRW.
- ADDED: TRW now supports the new dual-temperature channel LCD display
logger. Some cosmetic changes have been made to screen contents and
the reports to ensure there is no ambiguity resulting from the two
temperature channels.
- FIXED: "Check for logger on Startup" now works again for Mk3 loggers.
- FIXED: "the "Save Defaults" function from the parameters dialog no
longer gives an error.
- ADDED: The display of the logger internal statistics is now
conditional on the state of an Options checkbox.
- ADDED: If the “+†key is pressed when the values, graph or statistics
view tabs are displayed, the viewing mode is cycled through the available
logging modes for that logger. So if a data record containing both
Temperature and Humidity samples from a Humidity logger is loaded, each
time the “+†key is pressed, the display will cycle through the view
modes of “Temperature onlyâ€, “Humidity onlyâ€, and "both Temperature and
Humidityâ€, and cycling back to “Temperature†again.
- ADDED: The display of the external alarm enables states is now
conditional on the state of an option checkbox. The external alarms
provisions are not included in normal revisions of the G4 logger.
- FIXED: Various cosmetic and formatting display issues.
- CHANGED: If the Grace Period is set to zero there is no display of the
recalibration parameters.
- CHANGED: When a logger is reused after a trip that used the "Start at
time and date" option, the option is disabled and the logger start delay
is set to ten seconds.
- The calibration expiry date for G4 loggers now displays correctly. Note
that this error was only in the display and the loggers would still would
not have reported expiry until the correct date.
- IMPROVED: The hint text for the limit controls at the top of a logger
data window now distinguishes the case of the control being for a channel
that is logged but not displayed.
The limit controls at the top of the Graph, Values, and Statistics tabs
can be in one of several displayed states:
Active. Control is visible and enabled and affects a logged and
displayed parameter (e.g. the upper humidity limit
control when the data window is displaying Humidity
or Temperature and Humidity).
Active and changed. Control is visible and enabled and affects a
logged and displayed parameter as above, but it is set
to a different value to the corresponding limit in the
logger. In this case the control is rendered with red
text and a pink background.
No data. Control is visible but disabled (grayed) as the
temperature data hasn’t yet been read from the logger.
Not active. Control is visible but disabled (grayed) as it affects a
parameter that is present in the dataset, but is not
currently displayed (e.g. the upper humidity limit control
when the data window is from a logger that logged both
Temperature and Humidity but is displaying only Temperature).
Not available. Control is visible but disabled (grayed) as it affects
a parameter that the logger is capable of logging, but was
not logging for this particular dataset (e.g. the upper
temperature limit control when the data window is from a
Humidity logger - that can log both Humidity and Temperature -
but was only logging humidity for this trip).
Not present. Control is not visible because the logger isn’t able to log
that parameter (e.g. the humidity controls don’t show when
the data is from a Temperature-only logger, or a Dual-
Temperature logger).
In all of the above cases, the displayed hint text is unique and directly describes
the conditions that affect the displayed control.
- FIXED. The Print/PDF preview now correctly reflects what will be printed
or written to the PDF.
IMPROVED: The annotation on the comments dialog has been altered so that
it is less confusing when the dataset has Humidity samples.
- FIXED: Flags are now printed or shown on the PDF graph to indicate:
- the first and last samples,
- the start and end samples (of a selection),
- the minimum and maximum samples,
- any markers inserted,
- the blood cooling point (when enabled)
- FIXED: Programming of units (C/F) for the G4 logger displayed temperature
now works.
.
- FIXED: Ctrl-N (move to next marker) and Ctrl-P (move to previous marker)
now work when the trace is zoomed in.
- FIXED: Various issues with Ctrl-G (goto sample). Ctrl-G also now
causes the sample number entry dialog to be undocked for greater
visibility.
- FIXED: The go to minimum and maximum sample functions now work correctly
when two traces are displayed and the minimum (or maximum) samples are
at the same sample position for both traces.
- FIXED: Changing the print region option (all samples, start to end
samples, and visible samples) now correctly updates the print/PDF
preview and printed reports.
- ADDED: Comments are now indicated on the printed graph. You can show
either the comment title or the comment number.
Changes to 6.3, release 20, 29 May 2018
- FIX: When "Start at time and date" is enabled, TRW should no longer
display a invalid start date and time in the summary screen.
- FIX: The parameters dialog should now correctly display all of the
checkboxes when a G4 logger parameters are displayed (previously, the
last checkbox was partially obscured).
- FIX: The selected print region (All samples, samples between start and
end, visible samples) should now be respected.
- ADDITION: The temperature and/or date of a comment can be automatically
added to the comment text.
- IMPROVEMENT: Using F2 to add a comment no longer opens the comment for
editing immediately afterwards. This makes is much faster to enter a
number of comments.
To access the "old" behaviour (i.e. open the comment straight away) use
Ctrl-F2.
- ADDITION: Open files and/or logger windows are now available in the
View Menu and can be selected from there.
- FIX: The "Close" entry in the view menu is now no longer grayed
out under some circumstances.
- IMPROVEMENT: The "Close" item on the View menu (which closes the
Child form that has focus) now announces the name of the file, or the
serial number of the logger pertaining to the window that would be closed.
- IMPROVEMENT: Child logger data windows are now forced to be on screen
if their origin is off-screen (this can happen when users open a datafile
on a computer with different monitor sizes or number to the computer that
originated the file).
- FIX: The option to specify the start folder was incorrectly rendered
and some controls did not display.
- FIX: The right-mouse click options "Open folder" and "Open file" on
the Options/System tab now behave correctly.
Changes to v6.2, release 18, 12 April 2017
- IMPROVEMENT: The difference between the selected and unselected areas of the
graph has been made more obvious.
- ADDITION: Various meta-strings have been added. There are now meta-
strings that expand to several logger sample record metrics, such as
number of samples, minimum, maximum, mean, etc. Consult the help for
details.
- IMPROVEMENT: Whenever the summary data is explicitly read, or a logger is
started, stopped, or reused, the view mode now changes to "summary".
Whenever a file or logger is read the view mode changes to whatever
the user has selected in the Options/View tab option.
- IMPROVEMENT: Summary screen should now update to reflect the updated logger
parameters when the parameters dialog is exited.
- IMPROVEMENT: Attempting to reuse a logger that is still logging now presents
the user with a prompt to stop the logger first. If the option to stop
without prompting is set then the logger is stopped without reference to
the user.
- ADDITION: Separate meta-strings for filename-related entities have been
defined:
%Filename% expands to the filename part without the file extension,
%FileID% expands to the filename including the extension, and
%Filepath% expands to the path portion of the full TRX file specification.
If the dataset is from a logger rather than a file then these meta-strings
all resolve to null.
- FIX: The derived temperature statistics (TTV, PHI, ROC, PIP, MKT, RI) are
no longer displayed in the case where a logger has taken temperature and
humidity samples, but only humidity is selected for display.
- ADDITION: A panel has been added to the passphrase and confirmation
fields that indicates the status as the user enters the passphrase.
- IMPROVEMENT: If an incorrect passphrase is submitted in response to a
challenge, the passphrase entry dialog does not close.
- IMPROVEMENT: When the passphrase submission edit field is first displayed,
the entry field now receives focus.
- IMPROVEMENT: The installer has improved behaviour when installation folders
cannot be found.
- FIX: Child data form limit controls are now correctly initialised from
the logger, and from datafiles.
- FIX: Move to previous and next marker functions now work correctly in Values
view mode.
- IMPROVEMENT: The functions which cause a particular sample to be selected,
such as Goto Maximum, Goto Minimum, Goto first, Goto last, Goto sample N,
Goto next marker, and Goto Previous marker, all cause the target sample
to be highlighted in the values display.
- CHANGE: The limit of 5 user data lines to be included in the printed
report summary section has been increased to 20, as the LCD logger has
no arbitrary limit on the number of lines in the user data.
- CHANGE: Auto mode window can now be resized in both horizontal and
vertical directions.
- FIX: Operation of the Goto maximum and minimum samples when both T and
H are displayed now works correctly whether the graph is zoomed to all
samples, or zoomed to a sub-area of the maximum extent.
- FIX: The "Z" (timezone abbreviation) and "O" (timezone offset) meta-
characters are now returning the correct result.
- CHANGE: Where it is known, the timezone offset and name of the location
where the logger was started is displayed in the summary.
- IMPROVEMENT: The saving of a datafile from auto mode is now recorded with
an entry in the event log.
- ADDITION: A meta-string %Markers%, which expands to the total markers in
a dataset has been added.
- IMPROVEMENT: The auto mode display log now includes a line number.
- IMPROVEMENT: If a child form is already open, but minimized, and it is
selected again from the Most-Recently-Used list in the file menu then
the child window is restored (previously the child received the focus
but remained minimized).
Also child forms that were positioned outside the visible client area of
the main form are now bought back into view.
- ADDITION: An option has been added to enable a delay to be inserted
after the reader's COM port is opened. This provides time for the
reader power supply to stabilise. The option can be found by opening
the Options dialog and selecting the "Diagnostics" tab, and then clicking
on the "Advanced" button.
- CHANGE: Any operation that causes a state change in the logger, such as
start, stop, reuse, save parameters, or query, will cause the summary
view to be selected.
- IMPROVEMENT: The reliability of the response of Mk3 loggers to
interrogation requests should be greatly improved.
- ADDITION: Double-clicking the ""Start at time and date"" time or date
fields will cause a calendar control to display.
- ADDITION: If you hover the mouse over the ""Start at time and date"" time
or date fields, the duration between the current time and the time
specified in the controls now displays as a hint.
- ADDITION: Dates and times can now be displayed in any of three different
timezone formats:
in the ""local"" timezone (the timezone of the PC running TRW),
in UTC or GMT,
in a timezone selected by the user.
Similarly the timezone associated with the date-time used to encode date
and time-formatted file and folder names can be independently specified
to be according to any of these three timezone options.
- CHANGE: A logger that is being processed in Auto Mode that is already
in the "Start Delay" or "Logging" modes will no longer stop Auto Mode
processing with an error. This change was bought about by changes to the
way the "Start at Time and Date" function was implemented in the LCD
Logger. If this function is enabled in the LCD logger, the logger is
started and will enter the start delay mode as soon as the parameters
are saved.
- CHANGE: A more consistent start menu and program files folder structure
has been adopted. From this point on, all Temprecord products will be
located under a common start menu program group called 'Temprecord'.
Within this start menu group will be placed start menu groups for each
installed Temprecord product, e.g. TRW, TRW Kiosk, MLV, TAD, etc. Within
those start menu groups will be placed the shortcuts to each program
element, i.e. links to the program executable, the compiled help (CHM),
the PDF documentation, this "readme.txt" file and the uninstaller.
- ADDITION: This release is the first official release of TRW supporting the
new LCD logger. Along with this support, we are withdrawing TRW support
for some of the earlier Temprecord logger models. Earlier builds of TRW
will still be available for download if support for these models is still
required.
- ADDITION: The native file format has been changed. Data is stored using
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) and can be optionally protected with a
AES256 HMAC keyed digest. All previous Temprecord file formats can still
be read but the new release will not be able to save the datafiles in the
older format.
The new datafile format has other enhancements also, such as embedded
textual comments and ability to "remember" the file position and zoom
settings.
- ADDITION: A passphrase of up to 32 characters can be used to protect
loggers. Previously, only an 8 digit "PIN" could be used. The passphrases
can be used with both the existing Mk3 loggers and the new LCD logger.
Loggers previously protected with numeric "PINs" will still function as
usual. Loggers protected with the new version of TRW, including ones
protected with an all-numeric passphrase, cannot be accessed using
password-protected operations with earlier versions of TRW.
- ADDITION: An information panel has been added to the graph view. Hovering
the mouse above it will display a hint window with specific information
about the file origin and the status of the file integrity check.
- ADDITION: There are now speed buttons avaialable on the Graph toolbar to
add a new comment and edit the existing comments. The Add New Comment
button opens a dialog with the time and value comment position set to
whatever sample the graph cursor is positioned on. The Edit Comments
button opens a dialog that presents the existing comments in a grid.
Comments can be added, deleted, edited, duplicated, locked or unlocked
from this dialog.
- ADDITION: A button has been added to the data display windows to toggle
the state of the comments visibility.
- ADDITION: An option has been added to remember the opened files set on
exit and reload them when TRW starts again.
- ADDITION: A red warning panel is displayed in the parameters dialog if the
user tries to enter a passphrase with "Caps Lock" enabled.
- ADDITION: A specific error message is issued warning the user that Caps
Lock is enabled if an incorrect passphrase is entered with Caps Lock
enabled.
- IMPROVEMENT: The enable for "Use these settings when I save files manually"
has been extended so there are now separate enables for TRX files, the TRX
folder, PDF files and the PDF folder.
- ADDITION: It is now possible to pan the graph by clicking and dragging with
the mouse. You can also zoom about the cursor by using the mouse wheel in
conjunction with the Ctrl key.
- ADDITION: If an attempt is made to reuse a logger that is still logging,
the user is prompted to stop the logger first before carrying out the reuse
operation (previously an error was issued - this change just eliminates
the need to dismiss the error dialog and then start the reuse operation
again).
- ADDITION: There is now a separate "Save As" menu function. This can be
used in the traditional way to create a copy of the datafile with a
different name.
- A key binding (Ctrl-F10) and right-menu entry has been added to set the
start and end samples in all open windows from the current window.
This is useful for setting all windows to the same time span for data
statistical analysis.
Changes to 6.1 released 20 May 2014
- FIX: If the TTV period length is set such that the final TTV period extends
past the end sample (i.e. the sample set by using the F8 key) then the data
used in calculation of the TTV period is truncated to exclude the data that
is outside the start and end samples.
- ADDITION: Serial USB drivers have been updated to provide a more seamless
installation under Windows 8.
- ADDITION: The formatting characters "w" and "ww" can be used to encode
the week number, or the week number with an optional leading zero, into a
file or folder name.
- IMPROVEMENT: When a long filename is printed in the PDF reports it is now
wrapped to the next line if it won't fit in the space allocated, rather
than extending off the edge of the page.
- IMPROVEMENT: The PDF report files produced should now be considerably
smaller.
- ADDITION: Further meta-string specifiers are now supported, and
they can now be used in the user data.
- ADDITION: Named Parameter Sets can now be defined. These are a set of
logger parameters which can be referenced by name. Named Parameter Sets
can be loaded into the Program Logger Parameters dialog or the default
options settings, and saved from both these places. It is also possible
to select a Named Parameter Set to be programmed into the logger when a
logger is reused in Auto Mode.
- ADDITION: The size of the buttons on the toolbars can be changed to
one of small (the installation default), medium and large. The function
is accessed by right-mouse-clicking the toolbar to display a context menu.
Each toolbar has its own size setting and these are remembered along with
the position and docked/floating state.
- ADDITION: Toolbars can now be individually locked. If the toolbar is
locked it cannot be hidden, have its size changed, or be made to undock
although it can be repositioned in its current dock. If locked while it is
floating it cannot be moved, resized, docked or hidden.
The existing "lock toolbars" option setting now serves as a global enable
for the individual lock functions. If this option is checked none of the
toolbars settings can be altered.
- ADDITION: A button has been added to the Program Toolbar to query the
logger (read status and summary data and perform an "on-demand" reading of
the current temperature and/or humidity).
- ADDITION: The option to set the view mode when a logger's data is read or
a file is opened now includes a selection: "Don't change the view mode".
If this is selected then the view mode remains as it was when a logger is
re-read.
- FIX: The date of the first sample in the summary view should now display
correctly.
- ADDITION: The application title bar now displays the version and build
of the software.
- IMPROVEMENT: The summary display gives a clearer indication of the status
of the logger.
- ADDITION: There is now an option to lock the toolbars in place. The
position and state (whether docked or floating) cannot be changed unless
this option (on the General tab of the Option dialog) is unchecked.
- ADDITION: support is now included for Temprecord loggers fitted with
sensors suitable for monitoring cryogenic envionments, and also high
temperature environments. Contact your distributor for more details.
- CHANGE: The start delay is no longer set to a default value when the
logger is reused, and the start value that was programmed into the logger
is available and displayed on the summary view, and in printed reports.
In order for this functionality to work, the logger must be programmed and
read with version 5.28.0.2360 or later.
- IMPROVEMENT: TRW now remembers that serial number associated with the most
recent dataset to be saved to a file and thus should no longer present
unnecessary "Do you want to save the data to a file?" prompts.
- FIX: Pressing the Esc key when a "Verify" dialog (a dialog asking a
"Yes/No" question) is displayed is now interpreted as "Cancel", rather
than "No".
- FIX: A program execution error should no longer result when exiting the
parameters dialog after setting the parameters for a Mon-T logger when
the option to display the Mon-T-specific parameters is disabled.
- ADDITION: An option has been provided to allow Temprecord to use an
"internal" SMTP server for emails. In fact the email is sent using the
an SMTP server managed by Temprecord. If this option is
selected the user does not have to provide any additional SMTP details,
or have access to an SMTP server of their own.
This option is now the installation default.
- ADDITION: An event is now logged whenever a logger is read, a .TR data
file is saved, a PDF report is saved, or an Excel file is exported. Events
are also logged when file saves are unsuccessful, and there are read
errors when reading the data from a logger.
- FIX: Installation of TRW could create spurious non-functional
entries in the Windows Explorer context menu.
- CHANGE: The "Kiosk" version of Temprecord now has separate application
data and temporary file folders. TRW and TRW Kiosk can now be installed
on the same PC without getting in each other's way.
- ADDITION: The Web Options tab now displays the type of internet
connection that was detected (one of LAN, Modem, Proxy, Modem Busy,
or Unknown).
- FIX: The application now remembers the last folder used for an "Open File"
operation.
- FIX: There was an error in the reporting of statistics. If the first
sample in a record was the maximum value in that record (no more samples
exceed that value) then the time and date of the maximum sample was
reported incorrectly.
The same applied to the minimum sample, when the first sample in the
record was the minimum value for the whole record.
- FIX: When accessing the parameters of a logger protected with a password,
it was still possible to open the parameters dialog under some
circumstances (it was still not possible to save the parameters again
however). This has been remedied.
- FIX: When a logger was in the start delay mode or logging samples, it was
still possible to open the parameters dialog under some circumstances.
(it was still not possible to save the parameters again however).
This has been remedied.
- ADDITION: The Help menu now includes an entry to start a browser window
positioned at the index page of the web-based help.
- ADDITION: All help topics now contain a link to the equivalent help
topic in the browser-based web help, so that you can check the web
help to see if there is any updated help available for any topic.
- CHANGE: The batch example files have been updated to include the use of the
installation command-line parameters for setting the installation type amd
importing of existing INI file settings.
- FIX: A bug in CHM help prevented text inside tables from formatting
properly when the help window was resized.
- ADDITION: When viewing the Options/System tab, it is now possible to
right-click a file or folder name and open an explorer window at that
folder. If the name corresponds to a file, and it is a .TXT, .INI, .PDF
or .CHM file, it is also possible to open the file from this menu.
- FIX: When installing over the top of Builds 765 and prior, the settings
for Default Sample Period and Defsult Start Delay should be preserved.
- CHANGE: Durations now appear in the exported spreadsheets as H:mm:ss
where the hours can be any number, e.g. a duration of 1 week will show
as 168:00:00, and the value will still be available as A DateTime float
value in the spreadsheet.
- FIX: Under some circumstances the displayed logging duration was incorrect
when humidity loggers were being programmed.
- FIX: Sequence number (inserted into a file or folder name when the "#"
character is used) is now preserved when TRW exits.
- CHANGE: The display of warnings in the parameters dialog. has been
improved. A warning message and associated flashing icon is displayed if:
- the temperature limits are outside the range of the logger.
- the Mon-T limits are outside the min and max temperatures.
- the "Start at time and date" date is not in the future
- ADDITION: Added help text about rounding of exported values.
- ADDITION: The bug reporting and error report dialog has been improved.
- ADDITION: "Export" can now be accessed from the right-click menu.
- ADDITION: A warning is displayed if the recorded data appears to be
saturated at the upper or lower limit for the logger.
- FIX: The "description" section of a product integrity report section
is now word-wrapped and will no longer be truncated at the right-hand
edge of the page.
- FIX: Installation now takes place into the correct "Program Files" folder
in foreign language versions of Windows.
- FIX: Under rare circumstances a spurious warning about calibration data
being invalid would display.
- ADDITION: Functions have been added to allow start and end sections
on the graph to be defined with the mouse.
- ADDITION: Shift-Copy now copies the mean value of the samples between
the start and end samples to the clipboard.
- CHANGE: The startup log is now written to a folder off the local
application data folder (it was previously written to a folder off the
application's Program Files folder).
- ADDITION: The last 10 startup logs are now retained in the
LocalAppData.. Startup Logs folder. The last 10 installation logs are also
retained in the LocalAppData.. Installation Logs folder. Finally, The last
10 error logs are retained in the LocalAppData.. Error Logs\ folder. The
log files are all filename date-stamped and the installation log files are
also filename version-stamped. These log files are added as attachments
to the email sent when a diagnostic report or error report is sent.
- CHANGE: The installer has been altered so that the user can choose to:
- install for just me (settings stored in user's local profile)
- install for all users (settings stored in user's local profile)
- install for all users (shared settings stored in shared docs)
- install for remote users (shared settings stored in EXE folder)
The installation type is now displayed in the "Help/About" window.
The installer will also display a page enabling the user to choose to import
the settings from an existing INI file if one is found.
- FIX: Sometimes a privileged instruction exception resulted when TRW
tried to find out the number of installed printers on startup. This
was due to a bug in the printer API routines and has been worked around.
- FIX: Sometimes an exception resulted if TRW could not write the INI file.
- FIX: Sometimes an exception resulted if there was an operating system
error opening the "Save file" dialog.
- ADDITION: Added a button to the exception handler to exit the application.
This is needed because if an exception occurs on exit, it was not
possible to exit the application.
- FIX: Exception sometimes occurred when closing the serial port when
exiting TRW.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Changes to 5.27
- start-to-end sample regions can now be quickly defined with the
mouse. To select a range of samples with the mouse:
- click on the graph where you would like the start sample to be.
- with the shift key held down, click on the graph where you would
like the end sample to be.
- holding the shift key down and selecting Copy from the right-click
menu will copy the mean temperature (and/or humidity) between the
start and end samples to the clipboard.
- the parameters dialog now displays a warning if the temperature
limits are set outside the recording range of the logger.
- added a file menu entry to close all open child windows.
- under some circumstances, the parameters dialog displayed recording
durations that were incorrect when humidity loggers were being
programmed. This has been fixed. Note that only the displayed
duration was incorrect - the operation of the loggers was unaffected.
- minor functional and cosmetic improvements to Mon-T logger
support.
- fixes to date and time format when printed on graph time axis. Date
and time are now formatted according to the user's Control Panel settings.

specified in Options. The printer output is formatted
as for the current printer settings, unless there is no
default printer, in which case the PDF settings are used.
- web/email jobs are now not started if there is no Internet
connection found.
- fixes to annotation of X (time) axis in printed output
and PDF reports
- main window is now contrained to always appear on screen at
startup.
